Simply Dog Walking, One Dog at a Time

For a variety of reasons, some  dogs require individual attention, so I have created a service that focuses on one dog at a time.

• Walkin' the Dog SF offers door-to-door service.

• Private walks, no driving, no stress on you or your pup.

• Walks are available primarily in the Potrero Hill, Dogpatch, Mission, and Castro neighborhoods of San  Francisco

I know that your dog is a member of your family.   I will treat your dog as my own while providing fun and safe walks, on leash, around your neighborhood.  Visits are generally 45 minutes, with 30-minute walks, but tailored to your  dog's needs—length and strenuousness are adjusted accordingly.  After returning from a walk, I will spend time with your dog---playing with a ball, scratching that special spot--whatever your pup enjoys.

Dogs have been a special part of my life for as long as I can remember.

My childhood dog, Happy, was a gentle mutt that had appeared unexpectedly in a littler of pure bred spaniels. Happy was always agreeable and ready for a good time. When my neighborhood friends in Detroit stopped by, they would request that Happy come out to play, even if I couldn’t ! After I moved to San Francisco, I fell in love with a puppy at the SPCA—at that time the city shelter—which unfortunately didn’t then provide preliminary vaccines. When I adopted Dickens, he had already contracted distemper. Veterinarians offered a bleak prognosis for my sick puppy, but Dickens survived and lived to be 17.

Before I became a professional dog walker in 2014, I had adopted many dogs from shelters, volunteered at the SFSPCA Hearing Dog Program, fostered dogs, trained dogs in basic obedience, and walked the dogs of family, friends, and neighbors.

I continue to study canine behavior and training to learn from experienced professionals. I recommend books and classes by Ian Dunbar, Patricia McConnell, Trish King, Kathy Sdao, Martha Hoffman, Jean Donaldson, and of course, Veronica Boutelle, founder of dog*tec’s Dog Walking Academy.
